Hello
i will be in Beijing for 2 weeks on a seminar and i will have 2 or max 3 days to do a trip outside the city, when i am done. I would like to hear some options that are not very far. I wouldnt like a big city again, some people will go to Shanghai, but i d prefer something more traditional and close to nature experience,
thanks
2 or 3 day trip from Beijing

Tai'an? Chengde (with an e at the end, not a u)?
Qufu in Shandong Province. Lots of historical stuff related to Confucius. Just over 2 hours by the fastest highspeed "G" trains.
Within close distance from Beijing consider Chengde or Datong. Maybe Pingyao.
BTW, I visited all the places that have been mentioned so far - Tai'an (Tai Shan), Chengde, Qufu, Datong, and Pingyao in my trip to northern China in 2010. For my observations, click on my name and look for my trip report. It's ridiculously long, but you can search it for these destinations.
