2 month trip to India. Please give Itinerary advise.

Jump to last reply

My partner and I are in our early 50's. We will be on a tight budget and will be backpacking. We don't mind 'roughing' it. We are more interested in seeing countryside, trekking and Nature reserves, but do want to experience some city life. We have never been to India.
Hopefull will not be flying within India unless it will dramatically improve our holiday.
We were thinking of travelling or fm Calcutta to Delhi, maybe including Rajasthan or Uttaranchal (for Corbett National Park)
Or from Bombay to Delhi or Delhi to Bombay. Though I really would like to see backwaters of Kerla.
If 2 months not enough can we do Bombay to Delhi in 2 and a half months.
2 months preferable. Also when is best time of year? I know thats lot of questions but there is so much to see and hard to tell how long everything will take. Please help!
