Hi,

We are looking at spending the last 2 days of our honeymoon in Ubud and I was wondering the best place to stay. As it is the end of our holiday the price range is not too much of a problem and so we would be ok spending $300-$400 per night to try make it as special as possible (although I know money is not everything and I will have to work hard when I get back to rainy England!).

We were looking at The Hanging Gardens but I have read it is a little over priced and a bit dated now, Bisma Eight looks really good and so is an option but ideally I want something a little higher up for the views.

What we want is something high up with amazing views to enjoy the much talked about and loved Ubud jungle experience!

There are quite a few resorts along the Ayung River valley that offer spectacular views. I would look at Kayu Manis and Samaya for intimate villa experiences. The Four Seasons and Como Shambhala for more luxe (and pricier) environments.

As I mentioned in your other thread I like the Alila, both for the view and for overall ambience. Their Valley Villas have wonderful views and spacious wrap around balconies. The regular rooms are smallish but well designed with the same views.

Komaneka at Bisma is on a different valley but is also beautifully situated.

Hanging Gardens is a little further out. The setting is impressive, but I agree that the upkeep has been somewhat lacking. The cable car and multiple stairs get tiresome.

I think you should stay somewhere within walking distance of the town, preferably at the southern end.

Hanging Gardens is too far north. If the roads are busy and you are arriving from the south, then you might regret that decision even before you arrive. And if it's your last stop before your return flight, then it could be a long and slow drive to the airport.

My best friend loves Bali and has been going there since the 90s and swears by the Kamandalu Hotel. Although I have been to Bali (many years ago), I don't recommend my Ubud accommodations for a honeymoon. But, below are some links to the Kamadalu that I also mentioned to some other friends and they ended up staying there for their honeymoon back around 12 years ago. It seems as if the place is still going strong although I think there was some turnover of the place some years ago.

I had amazing stay at Kamandalu Ubud and highly recommend it. The price is reasonable and the setting is great. The room is spacious and elegant. I wish to come back there now.
