We're coming in from Beijing landing 7:45pm, leaving the next morning on SQ at 9:45. Obviously, some sleep needs to be part of the package...but where to stay and what to do for the 14 (minus leaving airport, and assume 7 at Changi for 9:45 departure?)
We prefer not to spend a fortune (we'll have done that during the 3 weeks in china we're returning from) but would love some ideas. One walk, one hotel, one dinner option? On the wat, we'llhave stayed at the transit hotel, so this is our micro-sample opportunity! (though I have been before, was so work related I did and saw nothing)
Think it'll likely be too late for the zoo... so I'm assuming some night market, someplace for crab, and a hotel that's well-located but not budget breaking for the few hours we'll be there.
thoughts?

After immigration, take a taxi to your hotel, dump your stuff and head to Clark Quay. Walk the Clark Quay, Boat Quay stretch, lots of alfresco dining options there, plus that's the best 'mini-tour' of the city-downtown with view, in the night. Dining you may be spoilt for choice, I'd rather walk into one of the quaint river-side restaurants in Clark Quay than a hotel restaurant. The CHIJMES complex is another great dining option. If you like views from the top, a quick drink at the Asia Bar/Equinox at the 72nd storey of the Swissotel Stamford is recommended. Sweeping views of the city and island . And thats a great hotel to stay too, but there's plenty more around.
For a hotel, any city hotel, within the downtown area is good, if its not the Ritz or Raffles, it costs pretty much the same. It's also possible that SQ provides a courtesy hotel, check with them, if you are on transit with SQ. Good luck!
For hotels, I'd suggest either the Parkroyal on Coleman, Merchant Court or Furama City Centre. Merchant Court is just opposite Clarke Quay, the Furama is between Clarke Quay and Chinatown. The Parkroyal is between Clarke Quay and Raffles City/CHJMES.
You may be in time for the night safari, but I think that would make you very rushed. Better to just take a walk around the city.
