? about travel form SIN to cambodia

I have two weeks vacation, and was going to Sin and malaysia, but though a side trip to Cambodia's Angor wat would be good. While in Sin can I get a visa for Cambodia, are flights reasonable from there or from Malaysia? That is the main question. Any other advise for a budget traveler or sites to see would be appreciated..

You can fly directly from Singapore to Siem Reap by Silk Air. There is no direct flight from Malaysia to Siemp Reap, you have to change airlines. Visa can be obtained on arriving, it takes about half an hour or so, have a photograhp at hand though.

I flew from Penang (Malaysia) to Bangkok by Thai Air then Bangkor Air to Siem Reap two weeks ago. The leg between Bangkok and Siem Reap was more expensive than the Penang/Bangkor leg though the latter was a lot further in distance.

A cheaper option will be to take an overnight train from Malaysia to Bangkok then overland to Siemp Reap but it will take a few days, that is if you have time to spare.

Just curious, how long do you plan to spend in Singapore, Malaysia and Angkor Wat? To do three countries in just two weeks seems a bit of a rush to me. I spent four days in Siem Reap and was just about managed to see all the major temples. But I took things slowly and visited the temples I liked more than once.

If this is going to be your only trip to S. E. Asia, skip Singapore or Malaysia but spend more time in Angkor Wat for it is such a special place and you'll remember it for many years to come.

Thanks for the info Naturaltan

I have been to Thailand twice now, wanted to see other SE Asia areas. I could not go to Vietnam nor Cambodia, cause I did not have the means to get a visa nor the passport photos.

As far as two weeks, that is a long vacation for me, I figure I will make the best of it. I figure fly into Sin, stay a day or two, go to Cambodia for @5 days, then back to Sin, bus up to Malaysia, likely KL area for some days then back to explore Sin for a couple days and head out.
An ideas or places of interest to visit?

The temples at Angkor are magical. Five days will likely be about right. As mentioned, fly into Siem Reap in Silk Air, a visa on arrival is US$20 and a passport photo. Silk Air doesn't make this flight every day, so do check the schedules.

I wouldn't head to KL if I were you to finish out your vacation. You might consider Malacca or one of the lovely beaches on the east coast of Malayasia. KL is an ok city, but rather boring as SE Asian cities go.

Yes you can get your visa on arrival in Siem Reap for $20 USD as of December 2003. The visa form has now multiplied into 3 different forms -- one of which you need to surrender on departure. My immigration officer was kind enough to staple it to a page in my passport. The process is neither fast nor slow. It just kind of progresses.

Thank you all for your help.
I still need to secure some passport photos, but otherwise look forward to a nice trip.
I may try the beach instead of KL, will see how I feel then, but beach, diving, and fishing sound great.

You can get passport photos made anywhere. You'll need a passport photo for the visa as well as one for your temples pass. I don't know where you live that it is difficult to get passport photos made. In the US, you can get them made at any drugstore. You should always have a few passport photos with you when you travel, as many countries require one (or two) to get a visa, and other kinds of passes require them as well (like a tube pass in London). Since you are going to Singapore first, do it there.
