Where to book multi-city Europe Trip?

I'm going to check www.kayak.com and www.1800flyeurope.com.

Any other suggestions for places to book multi-city Europe trips? Or, travel agent suggestions?

Thanks!

how many cities?

most online travel sites are limited to 5-6 destinations. If you need more than you have to deal with an agent, either by phone or in person.

essentially 5 cities:

Houston to London
London to Hannover Germany
Hannover Germany to Paris
Paris to Houston.

Kayak allowed the multi-city search.

Thanks!

Search for the open jaw Houston - London and Paris - Houston.

Then search for one-way fares for the other legs on various airlines, including the budget ones.

I got a bit soured on air travel within Europe. You have to be very careful about how much luggage you have, and what you can carry on a transatlantic flight (and a connecting flight) may cost you quite a bit in excess luggage fees for a flight within Europe. Also, the airports are rarely convenient to your actual destination.

On the other hand, trains usually take you from city center to city center, have few luggage restrictions (if any), have room to stretch out and even walk around (and better food), are relatively fast, and have much better scenery.

We usually fly to an international airport, then do our traveling within Europe on the trains, and fly home from our final destination. Of course, we are retired and don't have to squeeze six or seven cities into a one or two week vacation.

As stated before, just about any major travel site and individual airline sites allow you to book up to 5-6 destinations.

rkkwan had a good suggestion but if I were you, I would look for something like this:

Houston-London stop
London-Hanover stop
Open jaw - Hanover-Paris - either train or a LCC (on a separate ticket)
Paris-Houston end

Expect about $1200 per person for the above itn in summer, plus ~$100 for the HAJ-CDG if you chose to fly. Not sure how much a train would cost but it would be a long train trip. I believe it's ~12 hours +/- couple.

www.itasoftware.com (not a travel agent, just a great research site)
www.whichbudget.com (for LCC European flights)
www.expedia.com
www.orbitz.com
www.travelocity.com
are just some of the major sites,
plus all the individual airline sites.

Yes, the train is slower. On a random day I picked, you can leave London at 0800 and arrive at Hannover at 17:30, a bit over nine hours, which includes two train changes.

For a valid comparison, you would need to take the flight time, add trips to and from the airports, and whatever security hassles they can think of, but I think the flight would be altogether a little less than the nine-hour scenery rich and comfortable train ride. Either way, you will be spending nearly a whole day in transit. I didn't look up Hannover/Paris.

I cite this merely as a suggestion; I am not selling train service; just saying that we find it a pleasant way to travel.

I'm not anti-train either but I find your comparison quite amuzing.

LON-HAJ is about 450 nautical miles or about 1.5 hour flight at most. Even with 2 hour pre-flight time, it comes to 3.5, or about 4.5 hours from hotel to hotel and no connections.

Train - 9 hours wth 2 connections. Collecting your luggage twice, carrying it around through stations loading it up onto the new train, etc. And to be fair you also need at least 1/2 hour pre-train departure from hotel and at least so much time to get to your hotel. 10 hours, 2 connections.
