I plan to go to Italy in September......of course, would like to get the cheapest fare available.....have been told of websites that are good to sign up for Fare Alerts.....have been told about Kayak.com but I am sure there are more.
I am looking for the best for the money....I can land in Pisa, Florence or Rome and am leaving from Austin but also can leave from Houston.
Thanks for your help.

Hello, my fellow Austinite.
May I ask how much you are hoping to spend?
Kayak is definitely one of the best. Orbitz also offers fare alerts. Other sites some posters use are mobissimo.com and bookingbuddy.com.
You might want to post in the Europe board also. Good luck.
Airfare Watchdog is good daily updates as well as fares to nearby airports.
American just announced fare sale to Europe. $1000 RT Austin to Rome for mid-September. Save an additional $100 plus free checked bag if you sign up for their AAdvantage credit card. Purchase ticket by Monday, June 25, travel August 26, through November 10.
julia1, that $100 off ad is very misleading.
A few months ago I bought a ticket to Spain. I tried saving $100 by signing up for that same credit card when I purchased my ticket. They told me the card would take 10 days to come in the mail, and in order to get my ticket ASAP I had to use a different card and I didn't get the $100 off. I was furious and I wrote an angry letter to customer service. They sent me a snarky reply telling me I would get the $100 off my next AA purchase.
PS They told me I wouldn't get the $100 off right away only AFTER I had applied and I had been approved for the card.
$1000 still sounds pretty competitive to me...
I like bestflights.com.au for cheap specials
