UA FF Tixs

Its been awhile since I booked award travel on UA. I wanted to fool around with booking award travel from IAD to New Zealand with a return from Australia. Imagine my surprise when I go into the booking on UA website and see the format has completely changed. If I want to look at all airlines in Star Alliance how do I do that now? Thanks!

I think the problem was there were no flights with partner airlines available. Now I am trying to figure out how to use award miles to book an open jaw roundtrip in Biz class with a stopover. Can that me done online or do I need to call?

I am also somewhat flummoxed with the new site, but they do list partner flights. We were looking at New Zealand and since NZ Air is the only game in town, there is pretty much nothing in Biz, no matter when you want to go or where you want to depart from. I did look at flights from ANA and Asiana, but there were always some legs that were "mixed". I also looked at flights through Europe, but they always routed through the US. I did not call, but I suggest you do that and let us know how you make out.

Yes, I think I figured out the new site. It does show partner flights when they are available. You are correct from the US the shortest route is on NZ Air which "is the only game in town." I'm thinking of going thru Asia to NZ with hopefully a stopover in Asia which would be great. On the return it would be out of anywhere in AUS and again thru Asia (with no stopover) since I think there is more availability. I realize this will make a long flight, but that may be the best we can do.

At some point I will probably need to call UA. Although I prefer understanding what is allowed before I try to deal with UA on the phone. At this point I am just tyring to see what options we would have. The trip is not for over a year so I am not ready to try and book. Just trying to figure out what my options might be.

I found this site for explaining UA rules, but its a bit complicated so I need to study it some more http://travelisfree.com/2014/08/26/u...routing-rules/

I booked a saver award on the website last night; got error messages and had one saver not go through, then another that did.

Talked with a live person in mileage plus who couldn't help me with an upgrade and didn't know the ins and outs of the new website; then a tech person who walked me though seeing what flights had upgrades.

The default search is 25 flights. Go to advanced settings and check the highest #, 50 I think. That might help.

Are you searching while logged in? That matters too, I think.

Thanks! I gather the site is quite new. Glad I started tyriing to look at options so far in advance.

Yes, I am signed in and I am showing the highest # flights. I may breakdown and call UA some night when I have lots of time. Thanks for the suggestions.
