We have a ticket by BA0036 (from Chennai) arriving Heathrow Terminal 5 at 11 40 am and have to catch flight BA0067 (Philadelphia) also Terminal 5 departing 12.45 pm same day. Please tell me if 65 minutes time is sufficient to catch the flight BA0067.
Any information is helpful as this is the first time through Heathrow.

I am living proof that you can make a 50 min connection (and have your bags make it too) at LHR T5. We did the reverse: PHL-LHR and then LHR-NCE That being said, I wouldn't recommend it if you can possibly do anything else, as it was a miserable experience and extremely stressful.

We were lucky that our inbound flight was on time but we still had to run (literally - OJ Simpson type running) through the terminal and barge past as many people as we could going through the executive/Fastrack/whatever they call it lane through security. My husband got stopped and was searched b/c of a long forgotten corkscrew in the bottom of his bag which didn't help matters.

Anyway, the short answer is yes, it can be done. Since you're arriving after the crush of transatlantic flights, I suspect that you could have a much easier time than we did, especially if your plane is on time. Also, if BA booked the ticket then it's their resposibility to get you on the next available flight if you do miss your connection.

Good luck! A longer layover in T5 isn't a bad thing - we always have a bite to eat at Wagamama's and look for books at WH Smith.

staying on BA in Terminal 5 pretty seamless

and they will hold departing flights for delays

Possible, but it will be pretty tight. Make sure you keep moving. This will all be in T5, so some long-ish walks, but the process is pretty efficient.

In my experience I would say this will be very stressful and odds are less than 50-50.

Be a good idea to mention it to the steward(dess) before you land, though 65 minutes is possible.

Note your hand luggage will have to conform to UK requirements and you will pass through security - but unlike 3rd world countries you won't have to go through immigration checks or collect luggage for customs checks.

All depends if your first flight lands & deplanes on time.

I've been thru Heathrow a few times; seems like we often had to either circle in the air waiting to get in the line up to land or on the ground waiting to get a gate to unload at. I always allow 3 hours so was no big deal, but with only 65 mins. a 30 mins landing delay could make your connection impossible.

I don't even think that this is a legal transit time. A few years back when we were flying BA from Rome to London, than AA back to Los Angeles, our flight were changed and we were told by AA that Heathrow had decided that 90 minutes was not long enough and we had to have a 2 hour window. I would have a conversation with your airline, and having made the Heathrow transfer a few times, I understand what they mean.

socaltraveler - your itinerary required changing terminals, the OPs does not. The connection time is legal for an all-T5 connection.

If the connection time was not legal, you could not book the flights at least not in the same booking. It would also not be offered as a connection on the BA or any other online booking website. If the inbound flight to LHR is delayed and the connection missed, you'll be put onto the next available LHRPHL flight.

sorry, I missed that he was not changing terminals - still think an hour is pushing it - we did an all T5 transfer in June and I was glad we did not have to rush, and that was with being able to use the express line with our Biz/First pass.
