Thai or ANA for BKK to NRT?
Both Thai and ANA have a daytime flight from Bangkok to Tokyo departing within a few minutes of each other. The cost is also virtually the same. I will be solo in economy. As they are each in Star Alliance I should be able to snag a few Air Canada Aeroplan points. Any reason to choose one over the other?

I ended up flying Thai and was pleased with the experience. My ideas changed and went overnight in business class not by day in economy. Flying overnight gave me an extra day in Tokyo and biz class gave me a decent sleep. The seat was not quite flat but good enough for me to sleep. My flight from Chiang Mai (separate ticket) arrived six hours before my departure but I was able to check in right away and get rid of my main bag and get into the lounge for a much needed shower.

Both are fine airlines but ANA is a well-run quality operation. I happen to know from working in the industry that ANA is top-notch in their safety and what subcontractors they will work with. Not that Thai isn't. But I know that ANA is. I am scared of flying, but not on ANA.
