smoking on Air France

Does Air France allow smoking on flights from the US to Paris? If so, how bad is it for a nonsmoker? Thanks

are you sure? the AF webdite asks about smoking preferences to establish a user id. I had a very bad experience on Austrian Air a few years back and I don't want to get trapped on a long flight with smokers. Is there a new law or something? thanks

Fred is correct. We use often AF from the US to Paris and also within France. Smoking is not allowed. The end of conversation

No commercial flights within the US and to or from the US allow smoking onboard. If you travel on AF from Paris to another destination other than the US, there might be smoking allowed but definately not on a US-Paris flight.

I am not too sure about "no airlines to/from US allow smoking. Egyptair (JFK to Cairo) had a smoking section - last 4 rows or so.

1. Lufthansa is all non-smoking.

2. "By waiver granted by the Department of Transportation, smoking is allowed on Aeroflot and Egyptair flights to and from the U.S. on the condition that (a) smoking shall be restricted to specified areas within the aircraft, (b) those passengers requesting not to be seated within close proximity to the smoking section shall not be seated there and (c) prospective passengers when making reservation shall be notified that the flight allows smoking but that they will not be seated close to the smoking section if they so request."

Boy, am I glad I don't have to plan every excursion and event around whether they let you smoke or not.., especially on a plane, where it is almost universally not allowed. Ever thought about being done with all the hassle and quiting?

I ask not because I smoke but because I don't want to be forced to sit near someone who does, esp. in a confined space!
