Seat allocation on through ticket - Advice needed
Hello,
We are travelling on a through ticket from Manchester (UK) to Denver (via Chicago) this sept, with BMI/& United.
We have (supposedly) been allocated seats for both legs.
When I checked my itinery on Armadeus it showed my Manchester to Chicago seat allocation but nothing allocated for Internal leg (with Unted, no seat allocations given at all with BMI site).
I know seat allocation is not definate but can anyone advise me when actually are we allocated the Chicigo to Denver seats, is it at Checkin at begin of journey (Manchester UK) or is it at Chicago airport? Also might be interested in buying an upgrade to United's PE if any avail, where do i ask about this? Manchester or Chicago.
Sorry to sound dim but have never done a through flight before.
We don't have a lot of time for transfering flights in Chicago for Denver so don't want to be faffing about if can help it.

I did contact United and they did issue me with seats for internal flights (or so i thought) But when i check the itinery the Man to chicago seats are showing But nothing for the internal.
And cannot access United site because its a BMI Ref NO.
Just wondered if when we check in at Manchester is that when the final seats are allocated for the internal US part of flight.
Or do we have to wait until we arrive at Chicago because i have no confidence that we will get the seats allocated as they (US part)are not showing up on the itinery

Call United and get your United record locator number; it is likely different than BMI's, but since you have United segments, you will also have a United record locator. Then, you may be able to use that to see and change your seats on the United website. I have a similar issue with United/Lufthansa itineraries where I have assigned United seats but they don't show up when I check the LH segments on Amadeus (e.g., checkmytrip.com).
You may also be able to elect E+; there's a new function on United's "my itineraries" that I think allows you to buy up at any time (all my itineraries already have E+, but I think that's how it works). BMI won't be able to sell E+ in Manchester.

Contacted United and they gave me a ref no but could not access it on site.
They have moved us further back (3rd time) we keep getting shifted to rear of plane, at this rate we'll be sitting on the tail!!
Only joking, as i don't mind were we sit as long as its together.
At some point we have to trust in that it will all 'come to gether in the wash' so to speak, and what will be, will be.
Thanks for answering my query, here's to a nice trip across the pond.

J62 thanks for offer, but think we're sorted.
Had another go and Eureka got onto itinery section on United web site and do you know what, our return flight denver to Chicago is on a 757-200 and we have been allocated seats 12 B&C which are showing up on seat guru as prem economy!
Would'nt that be nice given we have only bought W economy tickets.
But think they will notice and bung us back into steerage..

Just wondering what the logistics would be if we took up your kind offer of a mobile (Cell) phone.
Where would we buy a sim card and how do you pay for calls ( we only want a mobile phone for emergency use) i.e. if break down in mountains et, not to call home or use for social reasons if you get my drift.
Also, how would you get it to us?
