Safe to buy Europe tickets on AA?

We are pricing tickets to Europe for July and AA is the cheapest by quite a bit. With their bankruptcy, is it safe to buy tickets? What's the worst case scenario? Thanks!

It's my understanding that the AA bankruptcy is of the "reorganizing" type, not the "going out of business" type. Layoffs, adjusting pensions, that sort of thing. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a ticket from them, especially if the price is right.

AA is just one of several airlines that have undergone reorganization since 9/11. None of the major airlines have failed in that time and there is no reason to think that AA will either.

AA will definitely be here. Worst case is they cut more flights, including yours. You'll be rebooked, so schedule may change.

It also depends on which of AA's gateway cities you're flying out of, and where you're going.

In the past I've flown Iberia, Turkish Air, BA, and even Swiss Airlines while being booked on an AA ticket.

You might want to download the OneWorld timetable for a reference point as to who is flying where.
