Lufthansa A380 or United 747 FRA to SFO?

Which would you choose: Economy on a LH A380 or Business on a UA 747? Have FF miles for either.

Oh, that is a no-brainer: business class on UA.

The worst business class is still better than the best economy class.

Discuss.

OK - what am I missing here? Business (on any airline) vs. coach (on any airline) . . . what are you debating?

Seems obvious to me.

And most of the United planes have their flat-bed business class seats which I love.

Why debate business service when the original question was about economy, on points?

Are both flights nonstop? Would flying business involve a long connection or awkward itinerary? Would it completely drain your mileage?

Obviously, business class is way more comfortable. But I would take all that into account, too.

ANY business class is better than economy.

I could never do economy.

Business. Worth the miles IMO. Assume you are going direct and in the daytime but even so the difference is well worth it. If I wanted to hoard miles (which I often do) I would buy upgradable and then use miles to upgrade, rather than going economy.

We just flew on both an A380 and a 747 and I would absolutely fly Business Class on the 747 (I like the upper level) than economy on an A380.

Lufthansa is just about my favorite airline. that being said, I did fly First Class on Lufthansa (FF miles) but economy vs Business, I'd take business but you would be using a lot more FF miles for Business but it is worth it on long flights.

Upstairs in business class on a 747 versus economy on any airline - no comparison.

Thanks for your replies. You all agree with DH, and I'm teachable. We loved the LH A380 flight in business class FRA to SFO last year. Thought maybe the LH A380 in economy would be a better economy product than on other airlines. So I'll haunt the UA website hoping for an opportunity to book the same route in April on a business saver ticket. If there's nothing on the one daily A380 flight, I'll hope for availability in the bubble on a UA 747 flight. There's almost zero availability for business saver tickets, unless it's mixed cabin or long layovers or two plane changes, this year on any date I search. Last year there was lots.

I've read some reviews on economy on the A380 and it's no better than any other type of plane.

I just flew that plane (in economy) from SFO to Frankfurt and was not impressed.
The worst part was that the plane is so huge, it took over 45 minutes for everyone to de-plane.

Goldens how awful, on a plane that large they should use front and rear exits. 45 minutes is far too long and it would go twice as fast using 2 exits.

I read the seats are very uncomfortable, is that true?

True, they were not that comfortable.
There were a lot of babies on that flight and I felt bad for the families waiting to get off.
There were several people connecting on to India with only a 2 hour layover. I have never been on a flight where it took so long to get off.
The food was okay and the individual entertainment systems were very nice.
