Long late night layover Dubai (Emirates)

Flying from Kolkata to San Francisco on Emirates - Business Class. Our layover is from approximately midnight until nine a.m. --- I think I read somewhere that if there is no other scheduling option for the layover, Emirates will put you into an airport terminal hotel. I can't find it on their website - anyone know anything about this?

If that's not true, any info on what the airport lounge is like? Nine hours, ugh!

I will call them, but thought it was worth a try here ... flight is not for four more months, so no rush to get on the phone.

Well, I contacted Emirates customer service number by phone, because the web page said that if we were eligible for the free hotel, it would have let us know when we booked online.

This is our first time to fly with Emirates, and I have to say I am already impressed. I was able to get through to a customer service representative within two minutes. She checked our reservation and said we ARE eligible for the free hotel, and booked it for us. They will give us free transportation to a nearby hotel, a room, and transportation back to the airport in time for our morning flight.

The customer rep was courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. The complete itinerary, including the hotel and transportation, was in my email inbox even before the phone call was over.

Wow! That's all I can say, after having dealt with other airlines many times over the years ...
