JFK Inbound to Terminal 7 then on to Terminal 5 in 2 Hours?

Arriving at JFK Terminal 7 at 12:40 pm on BA with a connecting flight on Jet Blue in Terminal 5 at 2:59pm. Do I have enough time here to make it to Terminal 5? How long does it take to clear customs in Terminal 7?

Clearing customs is "your guess it's just as good as mine". You just never know. Don't sweat it, go with the flow and hope for the best. Customs and Immigration don't care if you have a connecting flight. If they chose you to do a secondary, you will not be making the JetBlue flight.

Other than that, you should be fine. I made many international connecting flights in Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas within 2 hours.

Immigration lines for US passport holders or perm residents are usually shorter than the line for aliens.

There is rarely any wait for customs after baggage claim.

If you have checked bags make sure they are checked through to your final JetBlue destination when you originally check-in with BA. Just show them your JetBlue itinerary. That way you can just drop off the checked bags right after you exit customs at T7.

Transiting from T7 to T5 by AirTrain takes all of 5min. Add on 5min wait time and 10min to talk from the T5 Airtrain stop to the JetBlue terminal and you still have plenty of time.

If you can do so, get your JetBlue boarding pass online before you leave the UK, then you just need to be at the gate by the time they close the doors, or about 10min before departure.

It is almost certain BA won't interline bags w/ jet blue.

Why do you say that janisj? Because of BA or JetBlue?

BA is famous for not interlining bags (even sometimes on its partner airlines like AA)

And AFAIK JetBlue only has agreements w/ one or two airlines (not sure if that is still the case - used to be so)

JetBlue does not have an interline agreement with BA, so you have to collect your bags and then take them to JetBlue in terminal 5; do not recheck them at the counter in Terminal 7. Unless you can clear both immigration and customs within 45 minutes of landing, you probably won't make the JetBlue flight ... so don't stop even for a moment along the way until you are clear of security in Terminal 5. Also be aware that it's a very very long walk from the Airtrain into Terminal 5, but once there the check in can be done very quickly. Security, however, may take a while.

Thanks so much for the info. I think I'm going to be conservative and take the next flight which leaves at 4:59pm. Just safer that way.
