JFK airport question; travel between terminals before or after check-in

Jump to last reply

I'll be flying out of JFK on Air Berlin on a Sunday in July. I'll have to drop-off luggage and check-in at the Air Berlin counter in terminal 8. After that, I'll have several hours to kill and would like to spend them at the United Club Lounge in terminal 7. The United Lounge is between gates in terminal 7, so I'm wondering if I can I travel between terminals after I clear security in terminal 8? I know you can freely travel between terminals in most airports after clearing security, but I'm unfamiliar with JFK. If not, could I travel to terminal 7, clear security, then travel back to terminal 8? Thanks for any help.
