Is Dallas to Brisbane, Australia too far?

http://www.ausbt.com.au/low-on-fuel-...erts-to-noumea

The flight from Sydney to Dallas isn't having any problems, but the flight back is due to traveling against the wind. Flying from Dallas to Auckland and then Sydney might be a better alternative, some say. And the hot days in Dallas, Texas have just begun.

On my recent flight from Tokyo to Los Angeles, the plane was flying at 702 miles per hour.

Pretty sure Qantas intends to deploy 787s on this route when they're delivered. Better range and cheaper CASM.

16 hours or so truly pushes the envelope

EWR SIN really pushes the envelope like 19 B4 headwinds

Truly a long slog

wally - I am not sure if hot days in DFW is a factor. Elevation is only 600ft, and 4 of DFW's runways are 13,400ft. So, a 744ER should be able to take off at maximum take-off weight. It simply doesn't have the range for the fuel it can carry and load.

A lot of QF's problems still go back to its poor decision not to order the 777s, especially the 773ER.

16 hours... no way - even in first class. By 10 hours I would be ready to jump from the plane. How could anyone do this in economy. yikes.

I used to routinely fly from SIN-LAX in semi economy (Executive Economy) on SIA. It was 15.5 hours one way, 16.5 the other, give or take.

I really miss those flights.

I did 15 hours and a half in economy from Detroit to Hong Kong last year. I survived LOL. I thought it was a pretty good flight actually. Everybody had an empty seat next to them.
