International flight rates
I'm a little confused. We (3 ppl) are flying to Stuttgart June 1st and I've been searching all kind of sites for reasonable flight rates. Some come up that the airlines will not release their budget rates until 2 month before flight date to them. But everywhere I read that we should book soon since rates tend to go up closer to the time. Dilemma here.... should I wait or should I book? Delta has a good rate for under $800, even though it's a little longer and more scenic routed then the ones for just under $1,000. Most other Airlines and also other "cheap" sites are more like up in price. What would anyone do?

Usually, the best prices are 3 months in advance for international and 2 months in advance for domestic. However, in the world of airfare, anything can happen. Also, if your dates are not flexible at all, one should try to book early. $800 doesn't seem bad for early June. Alcoholic drinks are $5 each on Delta and U.S. airlines. Delta is known for their 767 aircraft without individual monitors in coach.

"scenic route" means that instead of flying Pit-Atl-Str, which is a good direct route, it is Pit-JFK-CDG-Str. And of course arrival is with straight route around 9 am but with other route between 1-3 pm.
Thanks Wally, I think I'll go ahead and book since for 3 ppl the price of $800 pp. is definitely good then and I would worry myself sick trying to figure out if I could save a couple extra dollars but end up spending many more dollars in the end.

You did not say when you are returning, but FYI, Germany is hosting the 2006 World Cup. It starts on June 9 and ends on July 9. Millions of fans from all over the world will start arriving on or about June 8.
The possibility of getting a cheaper fare during that time is minimal.
It's a good decision to grab the fare you found.
Also, make sure you have hotel reservations. It will not be impossible to find a hotel but it may become an expensive proposition from about June 8th on.....
Have a great trip!
