After checking many airlines for flight from west coast to Maui..finding $ 500 = one way.
Checked Alaska air "low cost calendar"..for August...$546 RT. Oakland to Maui -non stop with "daytime travel" each way !!! I even called a friend at AAA to make sure I was accurate...
Believe me I booked it immediately.
I am sure lots of you know about this, but it was good news to me..
Aloha.
I did not believe fare to Maui....

Yes, Alaska has much better fares to Hawaii. We got the Alaska credit card this year because it gives you a $99 companion fare. We booked two first class tickets - non-stop from Seattle - for less than our usual economy fare on United flight through SFO to LIH.
That sounds about right. I've never traveled in August, but I get daytime, nonstops, most often on Hawaiian Air from Seattle to Oahu as cheap as $295 up to about $450 (Nov, Jan). Maybe the problem was you were looking at "one way" fares?
