How does this airfare compare?

OK, I know nobody knows what fares are going to be tomorrow, let alone 11 months from now. However, I'll ask anyway: how does this fare compare, say to a similar itinerary in December 2012?

DFW-FRA-DFW December 4 - December 14, 2013 - $1186 non-stop economy on Lufthansa

I seldom travel in December so I haven't a clue what international fares generally run.

I don't expect exact answers but would appreciate any hunches. Thanks.

I've done mileage runs in December to keep up my Platinum on AA.

I've found very cheap flights in the 1-15 or so timeframe.

A couple of years ago, I flew SFO-LHR-SFO for about $300 and change.

In this instance, there probably is a good chance of a better fare.

Thanks Rastaguytoday - I'll be looking mid-January and hoping for a better fare.

The Airline Industry divide year in 3 seasons, Low, Shoulder and high, the best time is travel in low season, which is after Christmas and around few weeks after Easter. In my experience September and February are best month to secure the best deals.

When booking keep in mind that never book on comparison sites.

I am a frequent traveller and have been booking my flights from many companies. I have came to conclusion which I wanted to share with my fellow passenger that fare comparison sites are not selling themselves, they are just an advertising portal who charge thousands of pounds per month from advertising companies. At the end these agencies who advertise at these portal recover this cost from passengers. So overall the flights from comparison sites are expensive then the travel agents searching themselves. The best site I booked so far are www.lastminute.com and www.travelstreet.co.uk they dont spend thousands of pounds on comparison sites rather they sell discounted tickets and hotels.

please check with atleast 5 agents before booking the flights.

Wish you safe and happy journey

December is usually higher fares especially after the 9th or 10th. It is about right though as I fly to So. America for around the same price but I stay through the Christmas holiday.
check this site too as they have coupons:

I did book the flight for $1186 back in January and to date haven't found a better fare. I'm happy so I'm going to quit looking!
