Help with JFK to VTE flights

Jump to last reply

Looking to book business class (with Amex points, hopefully) from New York to Vientiane, leaving first week in December. I'm coming up with all kinds of crazy odysseys. The most straightforward/cheapest seems to be on China Eastern and China Southern, both of which scare me fron a service peerspective.. Do not want to waste hard-earned points on sub-par flight experience. Korean Air does it with only one stop, in ICN, but the second leg is on the budget cafrrier, Jin Air. I've taken Korean before and while business is good, it is not stellar.

Always wanted to fly Thai or Singapore but these trips will take about 50 hours each way, according to my reading. Qatar Airways looks like a possibility, and there is EVA, Asiana, and Air France, again according to my research which may not be the most efficient.

Anyone here flown that route? Is there a way to break the journey on the return to stay in a hotel someplace, and not pay more for the flights?

This is such a long schlep that I want to enjoy the flights as part of the experience. Partner, who has never been to Asia, is willing to fly Premium Economy if I can guarantee that comfort and service will be prime.

Appreciate the help!!
