We are traveling from Colorado to Italy on Delta and have a layover in Detroit. It says on our ticket that international flights get one free checked bag per person, so we get that free checked bag even from Denver to Detroit right? Or since that leg of the flight is not international do we have to pay? Dumb question....I know, but we've never been over seas

(Unfortunately, I don't think he ventures over to this board)
Scotta53: First, ignore the previous post --has nothing to do w/ your question . . .
Assuming your flights are on one booking - in other words you booked Denver to Italy - you will get the international baggage allowance.
Thank you janisj!
Just to totally reassure you, this is Delta's website, pointed to baggage.

I just flew Delta, so I had the baggage allowance bookmarked.
Used to be you would get 2 free checked bags 70 pounds each . Now it seems they have cut it back to one bag free and only 50 pounds at that!
BillT - In 1963 Bob Dylan wrote "The Times They Are A Changin'"
Almost 50 years later, "it used to be"'s aren't what they are now.
To make it even worse, Book of Ecclesiastes' "Turn turn Turn" as adopted by Pete Seeger and made popular by the Byrds, indirectly says the season of 2 free 70lb bags has turned into a season of 1 free 50lb bag.
That was then, this is now. Or as Dylan once said "I'll let you be in my dream if I can be in yours".
