FRA train connections to Dusseldorf

Need some help ...
tentatively arriving at FRA at 10:15am from LAX and will connect to Dusseldorf via train. Can I make a connection around noon? Lots of choices ...

My biggest worry is on return. My flight leaves FRA at 5:25pm (1725). Can I safely take train that arrives 1522 or 1551? I will not check any luggage.

thanks

Check with your airline if they codeshare with Bahn to most major German cities. I know AA does, and the ticket usually is only few $ more and you are always "protected" when something goes wrong.

Hi,
under normal circumstances you should make it. Anyway, there are frequent connections (every 30-60 minutes) from Frankfurt airport train station to Duesseldorf, directly or with train change in Cologne.
bahn.de is very helpful to find out everything about train connections in Germany.
After passing customs, which normally is no problem for US citizens, it is a 10-15 minutes walk to the airport train station.
But sometimes the trains are 20-30 minutes late. So better take the train that arrives 15.22 or even one earlier.

I did a search at aa.com for LAX - Dusseldorf and it shows arrival at FRA at 7:10 AM and departure from FRA at 8:24. That connection time is only 74 minutes. The Deutsche Bahn website shows that train arrives Dusseldorf Hbf at 9:37.

Based on that schedule info you could figure the connection time (plane to train) is 90 minutes and train travel time is 90 minutes. So you could be on a train by noon and arriving in Dusseldorf before 1:30 PM.

Since you will be arriving in FRA at 1015 local time, I assume that you will be on LH/UA.

LH/UA codeshares with Deutsche Bahn, and you can find the plane/train connections that match the airlines MCT restrictions when you look for connections from LAX to QDU or vice versa (QDU = IATA code for Düsseldorf Central station). The "airline code" for Deutsche Bahn is 9B.
