Flying into O'Hare..bad as I have heard??
Travel solo a lot.
Just seemed to have landed in many cities that have easy to navigate light rail systems from airports to downtown.
First time into O'Hare..Several friends have commented..how big, busy, confusing etc..
What is best way to get to downtown hotel.???

I'm not sure what you've heard, but O'Hare is a large, busy airport. However, everything is clearly marked and the Blue Line connects to the arrivals level of the three domestic terminals. Look for the signs that say "CTA Trains to City".
The fare from ORD is $5, at all other stations, it's $2.25. You'll find vending machines in the O'Hare station (and all others) to purchase a Ventra card or passes. If you purchase a card, the cost is $5 and if you register the card, that amount is credited back to your account. You can find complete info on: https://www.ventrachicago.com/.
For maps, a trip planner and how to track CTA buses and trains with your phone, check: http://www.transitchicago.com/.

Great information...thanks..
this is example of how useful these sites/forums are to people going to "new" places.
Years ago, when i started traveling solo (by choice)
I made all reservations out of my AAA Accommodations book..
no way to know safety of surrounding areas, long range weather forecasts.
no cellphones, so i had to call home every night to let family know my whereabouts.
Looking back, I am glad I made the effort...
I do remember one sketchy in Boston...I almost booked a hotel on edge of "combat" zone..fortunately a neighbor clued me in...
Just downloaded Ventra App to my iPhone ---looks great...

I have been to Chicago numerous times in last six months. Always use Blue Line train found in lower level between T2 and T3. Takes approx 45 minutes and you can transfer to other L line trains to get you close to where you want to go. Far is $5.00 ($2.50 on weekends). Cant find a cheaper mode to the city. Also, better than dealing with roadway traffic which is bad at most hours of the day.
