Ever have phantom segments in your itinerary? What did you do about it?

I recently changed a Skymiles award where I was going to NBO and TNR to one heading to NBO and EBB instead. I'm also returning home a few days earlier than the original itinerary. Everything on the new reservation looks fine on delta.com and on my ticket receipt, but on checkmytrip, there's still an extra TNR-NBO segment which is 3 days after I get back to LAX on the new itinerary.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and what, if anything, you did about it. I'm inclined to do nothing for now since it's the last segment on my itinerary so I'm not worried about "missing" it. I'm more concerned that if I try to be proactive, something that I don't want canceled gets canceled

I can't know for sure, but might there be simply a lag time before it gets corrected on checkmytrip? As long as your new itinerary looks correct on the airline's website and your receipt, I'd *think* you'd be fine.

Thanks, Jeff. I've not experienced a lag time with checkmytrip before. That's not to say it can't happen. I'll check again in a few days.

I was also thinking how many people might not look up their itineraries in another reservation system so such extra segments would simply go unnoticed.

I had to make some more changes and reissue the ticket again. Phantom segment still there. Delta can't see it and I'm not calling KQ.

Patty, which company did you decide to use for the gorilla trek? Just curious.
I'm thinking about doing Kenya/Madagascar in 2010 (if there are no more uprisings).

You're going to laugh, Jane, but I decided not to go to Uganda after all! Our 3 days in Uganda started to seem like a marathon to me so we're going to stay in Kenya. Plus we have friends traveling with us who weren't going to go to Uganda so we'll just stay together now. This trip has been plagued with more than my usual amount of changes I'm shooting for Madagascar in 2010 too!

Well that drive from Kampala to Bwindi is a bone-breaker! We did the gorilla trip in 3 days but we also spent another 5 days doing trips to Merchison Falls, the Chimp sanctuary, and "the source of the Nile". And it seemed like a "marathon" too. But I'm glad we did it.
