Does Logan Airport have place where you can get bags wrapped in plastic?

Does anyone know where it is? I've never done this before but have seen people in Logan with their suitcases wrapped up. Not sure whether they are coming or going. I want to do this for a carseat that we are checking. I can't really wrap up the carseat before I get to the airport because I want to use it for the car ride to the airport.

Plastic wrapping is mainly an international thing from what I have seen. It is a horrible waste of plastic and bad from an environmental standpoint. May I suggest that you go to one of the places like Toys R Us,etc. and purchase one of the cloth/drawstring carseat bags that I have seen alot of my passengers use to transport their kids' carseats? You can reuse it over and over and it is also cheaper in the long run-plastic wrapping usually costs 5 euros a bag overseas.

There are 4 different terminals at Logan - which one will you be at?

I can tell you that I have never seen one in Terminal B (American Airlines section).

I'm not sure what terminal yet - I haven't bought my tickets but we are flying domestically. I've never seen the service at any of the terminals myself. I saw the wrapped suitcases at terminal E (the international one).

Dutyfree- I've tried the carseat bags but most of them are very bad quality. Mine, with wheels, ripped between the parking lot and airport.

Neither my DH or I have ever seen such a service anywhere at Logan. I just looked thru Massport site and checked each terminal - no such service listed. That leaves a few possibilities - I missed it on both website and in our many visits to Logan; these people were coming rather than going; you saw this prior to 9/11 and people wrapped them elsewhere.

I have not flown with a car seat in a couple of decades, but what is the problem with just putting it thru as baggage - I see people doing that all the time - so they can't all get ruined in the process. And why are you not bringing it on the plane for use there?

Bring a large black heavy duty plastic bag and tape and tape the thing up yourself!

We fly out of Logan frequently, and I've never noticed such a service. You could try calling (617) 561-1800 or 1 800 23-LOGAN (airport services).

But, why not just gate check it? On some airlines, if it's an acceptable seat, and the flight is not full, they will rearrange passengers so you can have a seat for your baby and keep the seat with you, or even let you know when you check in. We've been in line a few times where parents were hoping for a spare seat for the baby and were successful.

You might also be able to buy the bag from the airline at check-in.

Back in the days when we used car seats I used to simply remove the fabric cover to keep it cleaner, stuff it in our luggage, then check the plastic seat frame.

We also tried from time to time to use a large black plastic bag. Found that wrapping it around the middle with packaging tape they have at checkin helped keep it well packaged.

Get a proper car seat bag. If you just shrink wrap it, there's nothing to stop TSA to cut it open to check what's inside.

Thanks for the responses. Maybe I'll try another car seat bag. Any suggestions? My daughter won't sit in the carseat on the plane. Why? Who knows - she's two. but when I've brought the carseat (and paid for a seat for her) she refused to sit in it and then I am stuck with a carseat and no where to put or the option to check it midflight.

The plastic wrapping is huge in airports in Latin America, and I've seen it in MIA too. It strikes me as a real waste of plastic.

If she is 2 chances are her likes and dislikes change hourly - so maybe she will have chnaged her mind. She is also at an age where bribery works well - bring small gifts/toys/"forbidden food - meaning unhealthy things she doesn't get at home to use as "rewards" (AKA bribes) to sit in seat.

The plastic is definitely an international thing - Latin America, Africa are huge users. In some airports, they make you have your suitcase wrapped before they will check it - it was explained to me that it is a theft deterrent (I guess they have big problems with baggage handlers). It is really bad for the environment, and a huge waste of plastic - so for your need, I think the bag to cover your carseat (and gatecheck it if you can carry it around) is the best bet.
