Changing name on return Delta ticket

Jump to last reply

My friend flew with her daughter from LAX to GUA with a ticket in her married name, Jones, and a passport in her birth name, Garcia. She is married to a US citizen, has a green card, but still uses her Guatemalan passport in her maiden name, Garcia. They allowed her to leave the US, and it was no problem to enter Guatemala since her passport is Guatemalan. Now she is ready to return to the US and is afraid they will not allow her to leave since the name on her ticket is not the same as the name on her passport. She would be returning with their 10 year old daughter whose ticket name and passport name are the same.

I have told the husband that she needs to contact the airline, preferably in person at their office with all her documents in hand) and ask if they can/will change the name on the ticket to match the name on her passport. If they can't/won't, I said that she should cancel the return portion of the ticket and buy a new one way ticket in the correct name to return (before the date of the return flight).

Any other suggestions? Comments?
