Can we use a UA club one-time pass if we're flying a different airline?

This question has never come up in all our travels, so it may be a no-brainer for some of you: We have two United Club one-time passes, but we may be flying AA or SW instead of UA. If we're on an AA or SW flight will we be admitted to the United Club? There's nothing in the terms and conditions on the back of the pass that addresses this. For what it's worth, we'd be at IAH or DFW.

I used one last week at IAH and was not asked to show boarding passes. I was flying on United, however.

Thanks, Jane. Turns out that we'll book with UA, so there won't be a problem. How was the IAH club? Ambience, food/drinks offered?

How was the IAH club?

There are three United Clubs in Houston. The one in terminal E is probably the nicest in terms of ambience, but it can get very crowded at certain times of the day (e.g., late afternoon). I've had to leave that one and go to one of the others a few times.

Re: food and drinks, they will be standard among all the clubs there. United is in the process of rolling out "upgrades" to the food (e.g., soup, hummus/chips, olives, couscous in the afternoon rather than just packaged cheese and crackers). Since Houston is a hub, I'd guess those clubs now have the upgraded food like ORD does, but I haven't been through Houston in a few months.

Thanks everyone. As it turns out we booked on SW with points, so we may change airlines between now and our departure date. Since SW points are refundable, if a better route/fare comes up we may deposit the points and book with another carrier, which may turn out to be UA. I'll be in the "all they can do is say no" if we try to use the pass while flying another airline; seems as if it's worth a try.

You don't need to be flying United to use their day passes.

I didn't read the original post carefully the first time. If flying on Southwest and the connection point is Houston, then it won't work, as the two airlines operate from different airports there--United @ IAH (Intercontinental) and Southwest @ HOU (Hobby).

We'll probably stick with SW because I've hit a couple of price drops, significantly reducing the number of points needed for our trip. We lay over in Denver for about an hour and a half, which should be just about the right amount of time to grab lunch. We won't need to use the UA passes this time, but your replies have provided information that may be useful for another trip
