Brief review of Asian Airlines

I just returned from three weeks in Asia, including nine flights. The airlines were United to and from the US. Asiana, China Eastern, Air China, Thai Air, Dragon Air and I think one other that just escapes me right now. Asiana was uncomfortable as can be - we all agreed that the seats are just impossible. The attendants have weirdly time-warp uniforms and the food is probably only appealing to Koreans. The other flights were all wonderful with plenty of leg room and food served even on the shortest flights....Good Food! Good Service! Delightful service.

I could not get over the huge, modern futuristic terminals! Amazing!

Just thought I would share.

What route and aircraft type did you fly on OZ (Asiana)?

I've only flown Asiana once (LAX to Hong Kong and back via Seoul) and I'm surprised at your review. On my flights the service was exceptional, the food decent, and the seats pretty typical for coach.

I believe it was Airbus A 320. Three and three. The seat backs were very strange....hard....sort of pushed your head forward. Really unusual and miserable. Everyone I was with had the same experience.

The food..... As I said, just not familiar. Porridge and some beef stew sort of thing. To each his own. But compared to all of the other airlines which each had delicious food, it just had no appeal to any of us. And we all eat Asian food regularly.

Asiana only has five A321s. Rest are all widebodies. I believe they are only used on domestic shorthauls, so it's not unusal they should serve food that are appealing to Koreans.

My mistake. They have 11 A320s and 21 A321s. Many of them are economy only. They are clearly for short domestic routes.

I flew AirAsia from Singapur to Denpasar last week, and back on Garuda to SIN.
While the first was very good for a low budget airline (especially the attitude of the flight attendants was beyond what we get as wardens on Ryanair or similar airlines), I was amazed about the amount of staff working at Denpasar airport, i.e. Check in was handled by 2 people, one doing the computer , the other taping the tags to luggage (just guess who, male or female, always did the "responsible" computer stuff while the other was always the "assistant").
Found Garuda's small 737 much better than European airlines' narrow-bodies on comparable 2-3 hour flights (In seat IFE, free hot food, comfortable seats in eco).

I was not "surprised" at the Korean food. Just saying that is what they served. It was the miserable headrests....
