Best ideas to pack in your carry on?

What are your smart, go to items to pack for comfort in your carry on on the plane? Thanks! (not to get into ads...just looking for suggestions and to update mine!)

Eye mask
Ear Plugs
Earbuds
Phone with music
Reading material
A jacket or cardi

Those are my necessities. A bottle of water and some sort of snack like trail mix are nice, too. Everything else is negotiable.

For really long flights, I might bring a pair of footie socks to go over the ones I'm already wearing, so I can walk around the plane without having to lace my shoes back up. If I'm wearing slip ons, I wouldn't bother.

Rather than mouthwash that can spill (and takes up part of your 3-1-1 bag) I like cough drops. The menthol kind (like Halls or Ricolah). They freshen breath and they sooth dry throat and sinus.

yes laurie ann...totally agree. i've had to buy throat drops at the airport or something because the air is so dry in the plane, and even hotel rooms...great idea....

For me -

Noise cancelling headphones and spare batteries
Water
Misc meds like pain reliever, antacid, RXs
Eye mask
Ear plugs
Shawl, which works as a blanket
Neck pillow (especially if traveling in coach)
IPOD, fully charged
Toothbrush, toothpaste - I absolutely will not travel without these!

All of the above but also dental floss. Nothing like a piece of nut stuck in your teeth to drive you batty.

Most of the above plus business cards (never can tell who you're going to meet), bluetooth headphones, and backup battery.

I like travel floss sticks to avoid getting my hand in my mouth (cautious, not phobic) and a travel pack of facials cleansing wipes that moisturize and soothe.

They used to make a kind of pre-pasted paper sleeve for your finger as a travel option--they came in a box, individually wrapped, Crest, maybe? I can't find a link, and anyway I stopped using individually wrapped stuff wherever possible, but they were handy. Ha ha!

Blow up neck/back pillow. In those tiny coach seats with no recline, its the one thing that saves my aching back.

I bring many of the other things mentioned above, but the pillow is the one thing I "never leave home without".
