BA / Virgin Fuel Surcharge Refund
Advertisements appeared in the UK press last weekend concerning the refund of fuel duty due to the recent court action in the US. I bought at least 2 long-haul tickets in the time period affected and have been watching out for any news of how to get my refund.
The newspaper advert directs me to a website www.airpassngerrefund.co.uk which appears to be run by the legal company involved. Before I provide any personal information to these people (who I've never heard of), does anyone know if this operation is legit?

British Airways' home page http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_us has a link to the refund site: https://www.airpassengerrefund.com/?openads=US_Fuel
It is legitimate.

Just flagging this up again because I finally got a cheque thru the post yesterday for £57.20 - my compensation for being overcharged on flights from London to the Far East. Not bad for the 5 minutes it took me to fill in the claim form.

Yes, this is quite legit. I have already received my cheque for a refund - did two trips and got about £40 back. You will have to follow the website - it is an official US Government site - which means belt and braces. You do NOT have to give any sensitive bank information but you weill need to put your name and address on the form. Can't remember if I had to provide proof that I travelled, but I think I did. Hope this helps.

Luck you who got pounds I got two checks for $10 each for two RT flights SFO-London. The form I had to fill out was 4 pages long and asked for everything under the sun, from date of booking, flight date, flight, times etc. Hardly worth $20.00

Joanne, the form-filling you describe was only necessary I believe for passengers who were not BA Exec Club (EC) members at the time of the qualifying flights. I just provided my name, address and EC number - the people handling the refunds have a database that automatically maps FF account details to flight, so they can work out this info automatically. Still well worth doing IMHO.
