Another United airlines question--award ticket booked on Continental?

I haven't flown UAL or Continental in years and have two questions. I booked two award tickets on Continental before the merger. I booked business class going out, and economy on the way home. I don't believe UAL lets you do that. If I need to make a date change, will I still be able to keep business class in the one direction?

Second question. I was checking our flights yesterday and noticed they made a fairly minor time change to the connecting flight. (We didn't receive any notification. ) They want me to "accept" it. Is there any reason to call and do this instead of doing so online? I know wait times are insane, but I got a little confused when reading about problems Flyertalkers have had recently when accepting time changes for flights booked on Continental. I didn't know if it was somehow smarter to talk to an agent about it first??

Thanks so much.

I do not know if UA lets you book a mixed R/T, but the new united lets you treat it as two one ways. Don't know if that would affect the mileage needed.

Hmmm. I guess you would then have to pay double the redeposit fee if you have to cancel, and that's always a possibility now due to our parents' health. Good to know though. Thanks!

If you make a date change you sh/would be able to keep the business class provided that biz class award seats are available on the dates you want.

Here is some info on fees:

No problem at all mixing cabins.
Changing dates and keeping everything else the same (same origin/destination, same class of service, same award level) will incur no fee if done at least 21 days prior to travel date. There must be award availability on the date you wish to travel.

As for the schedule change - there is no advantage to calling, especially right now when wait times are horrid (though I have not had to wait long at all, perhaps because of elite status.) Just go ahead and accept the change online. Out of caution I'd check back a day or so after accepting the change to make sure the reservation is still in order and if not, a call would be warranted but otherwise no need to call.
