Airline alliance's FFP

Hello Members,

I am writing this message in connection to my previous posts concerning our discussions on airline alliance FFP survey.

Further to our discussions, I would like to inform you all that I am conducting a survey to understand the passenger's perception of an airline alliance FFP. This survey is designed purely for academic purposes. To get better insights for this survey, we are interested in seeking responses from airline passengers coming from different parts of the world. This will help us to understand how airline alliances FFP are perceived in different regions of the world.

I am attaching herewith the link of the survey. And, I will be thankful if you could participate in this survey in large numbers.

If this survey interests you, I will share the results after the completion of the survey.I thank you for your help and I am looking forward to hearing your opinions through this survey

Kind Regards
Vik

Hello Janisj,

Many thanks for your message. Yes, previously I had launched a survey to understand brand perceptions of an airline alliance. However, this survey is focussed on airline alliance's FFP benefits and values. So contextually they are different surveys.

Who is "I"? Is this for a grad school project or will this actually be used for something?

I'm not sure the alliances have frequent flyer programs. The Star alliance, for example, recommends that interested people join the FFP of one of their member airlines, thus qualifying for whatever Star grants on any of their members.

Clevelandbrown is correct. There are no alliance FFPs, only individual airline FFPs, each with its own earning/spending/elite qualifications, rules and standards. Member airlines within the alliances will usually allow flyers to credit their flights to the customer's account with a different airline; however it's not unusual that the benefit from a given flight will be different from one airline's FFP to another.

Individual alliance member airlines can also grant credit for flights taken on non-members' flights, e.g. one can credit Alaska Airlines flights to Delta (Skyteam) or American (Oneworld) FF accounts in addition to Alaska's own FFP.

Many thanks for your messages and I comprehend what you mean. Please correct me if I am wrong, to my understanding, I reckon all the alliance carriers run they own FFP independently. However it appears to me that the airline alliances sort the benefits offered to FFP card holders through their alliance wide tier system.

Therefore, it appears to me that both the alliance carriers and the airline alliance as an entity are involved in the FFP system.I thank you again for your help
