Air Canada - Vancouver to Hong Kong
Has anyone done this recently? We are looking to do this Dec 2012. I see they fly 777's now on this route. Also, when checking it says "the route is operated by another carrier" - any idea who?
I did find this blog, which shows an actual AC 777.
What is International First Class like on CA?
[I am also posting this on Canada and Asia boards.]
Thanks~

AC does YVR-HKG itself if you fly non-stop. There are option with a conection in NRT. As mztery said Dec 2012 is not yet available for booking. The 777s are fairly new. I did YYZ-HKG in AC economy last year and lived to tell the tale. Service was fine and the seatback movie screen kept me occupied.
ACs Executive First on oveseas flights is very nice if you can do it. It's pod seating that turns into a flat bed. The ten times I have traveled that way I have always slept well and with one exception the food was very good.

Looking for AC flights with trying for upgrade via Optiontown. We did this in the spring with SAS to CPH and loved being in Bus Class for the flight. A great bargain as far as we could tell.
No, there aren't schedules out for 12.12 yet, just looking right now.
I did a check using 10.12 flights and that is where I saw the quote above 'operating by another carrier".
Not seeing seat mate is ok, when everything else is worthwhile

AC is mot one of the airlines optiontown works with.
The flight may be a codeshare - without telling us where you are seeing the flights it's impossible to say who the partner will be. AC partners with several airlines if it's not the direct flight.

I just found that out, that AC is not one of the airlines optiontown works with. They have several airline logos scrolling on their upgrade page [AC being one of them] and I made the mistake of thinking that meant they had were part of Optiontowns program.
May be back to the drawing board.
{How did you realize this, mztery?}

Nevermind, mztery. I see now how you knew AC wasn't one of the carriers. Rookie mistake. Should have clicked the drop down menu and not relied on the logos. Still pretty misleading...
