Aer Lingus confirmed seat lost

Jump to last reply

I bought tix on Aer Lingus way back in October to travel this coming September. My sister also booked the same day. We selected our seats in Row 11 for the extra legroom and paid extra. A month later Aer Lingus changed the plane type on outbound only. Row 11 was omitted so we were moved into regular seats (still in the higher priced choice seating). I had a confirmation at that time and it showed the new outbound seating and the confirmed inbound Row 11 was still good. Yesterday I went onto their site to print out a nice clean itinerary and it showed No Seat Selection for inbound. I checked with my sister and she's still confirmed. I called them and they told me they could only seat me in what's available and certainly not with my sister as my old seat in Row 11 as it has been sold. Of course, there is just a couple of seats available now. I told them I thought I should get the seat that was confirmed to me and the newer person should be moved. The agent referred it to her supervisor and someone will call me but not for 24 hours. Has anyone heard of this before? Do I have any recourse do you think? I'm so upset by this…I'm not a frequent flyer and so don't count much to the airline I suppose.
