Unfortunately there are still 2 different configurations and one is not guaranteed which one they'll get until they board. AA is trying very hard to predict which config will be on any particular flight but last minute equipment changes still happen. AA is promising all suites configurations by 2008.
Anyway, lets get back to the question.
Suite config (1-2-1) - the better one IMHO, is one of the better ones in the industry. If traveling alone try for the single window seat. If traveling with a partner than the middle seats are the way to go. The seats swivel so you can actually turn the seat towards the window and use the side area as a working desk while looking out of the window. The seats go fully flat for sleeping. The seats are very comfortable and now come with a full size pillow and a duvet. For dinner service you can actually invite your partner to sit with you as the seat can entertain 2 people during meal service, just like a cozy table at a restaurant.
The "Coffin" configuration - 2-2-2 - is the worst of the 2 but still very comfortable. It also goes fully flat for sleeping but it does not allow you to swivel, invite a guess for dinner, etc....
This config will be disappearing soon.

Can you do this if the Fasten Seat-Belt sign is on for the entire flight?
