2017 World's Top 100 Airlines Identified
Airlinequality has again ranked the top 100 airlines for 2017. On the top are Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, ANA All Nippon Airways, Emirates, and Cathay Pacific.
Lufthansa is the top European airline at #7. beating Turkish Airlines which went down to number 12. British Airways tumbled from number 26 to 40. Delta keeps climbing; currently at 32, almost tied with Air Canada, Aeroflot and Korean Air.
JetBlue climbed from 53 to 39. American Airlines beat United Airlines by four points at 74.
The site only ranks the top 100 airlines although they list 320 so don't expect a number for Spirit.

Another of Skytrax's bogus "competitions." How many "voters" have ridden on more than a handful of airlines so they can make informed comparisons? How about if respondents don't speak English, Spanish or Chinese?

Few people really travel of most of the worlds airlines so you rate your experiences on what you have done and I don't think you can discard that.
Those who put in reviews on skytrax aren't respondents. They are not solicited unless I am mistaken. Whoever comments there does so voluntarily. You can't help that its in English. Maybe there are other similar websites in Japan, China, India, etc for those audiences.
I look at the totality of reviews and make my own conclusions. I will say that we have flown on several airlines that are rated from 3 to 5 stars and based on our experiences I would agree with the ratings.
