Zambia in April

Jump to last reply

Am in the process of trying to get a trip to Africa together for April 1-15, 2006. Would like to spend a week in Zambia and 5 or six nights around Cape Town and the winelands. Problem is, it seems that most people recommend splitting time in Zambia between South Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi, but I'm not sure any lodges in the lower zambezi area are open in early April (at least does not look like Chiawa is, not sure about Chongwe river). If I cannot get to the lower zambezi is it worth going to zambia at all during April, or should I book a more conventional Botswana or South Africa safari? For some perspective, I have never been on safari before so have no frame of reference regarding these issues.
Thank you for your help, and for this board which has provided a tremendous amount of information to me already!
