Zambia here we come

It's a long time since I've posted as we've been living in India since January. However the call of Africa was too great even from India so we started planning a trip to Zambia from there. Events overtook us & my company decided they needed me back in London more than they needed me in India - so we agreed to return on 1 proviso - they pay the difference on the airfares (flying from Delhi is a heck of a lot cheaper than flying from LHR!!!)

So thanks to Rocco & Julian we're off again to Zambia, leaving on 1st November. Our itinerary is:

1st Nov Dep LHR
2nd Nov arrive & o/night Jburg
3rd Nov fly JNB-LUN-Mfuwe. Luangwa River Lodge 6 nights
9th Nov Puku Ridge 3 nights
12th Nov Chiawa
15th Nov Fly home via JNB.

I can't wait to go - it's nearly 1 year since we went to Africa last. So having finally got through all the hassle of returning from India to UK my mind is now on Africa again (not that it's been off there really).

I have only one question .......... is Zambia in November hotter than Delhi in July / August?

Promise there'll be a trip report and loads of photos from GovernorPhil when we return.

Have a great time Ruthie! You're going to love LRL and Puku Ridge. Tell them both Dennis said HI! You may be with a sometimes fodorite at LRL, Mandy who's a very sweet woman and her husband. They're leaving LHR on 11/2. Have fun, travel safe!
Aloha, Dennis

The heat combined with the humidity can make it miserable- 24 hours a day- in the Zambezi Valley.

(I will pretend I didn't read the post from luangwablondes.)

Have a wonderful trip, Ruth and GovernorPhil! And good for you for getting that extra airfare paid for by your company.

Hi Ruth and GovernorPhil - I'm the sometimes Fodorite who's finally gotten back on the website. I hope we meet up at LRL and have a chat. Welcome back to the UK!

Hi RuthieC,
Trip sounds awesome, we are profoundly jealous especially of the Luangwa River Lodge bit. Not sure in terms of New Delhi, but can compare Hong Kong in June/Jul if it's any help. Both are bloody hot, but HK was to my mind more humid and sweltering whereas Zambia is drier - comparitively - until the rainy season starts.

Enjoy
