Yellow Fever immunization for Tanzania
My husband and I are in our 60's and going to Tanzania for 3 weeks. We will be in Dar Es Salaam,Arusha and Zanzibar. Do we need to get a yellow fever shot and a typhoid shot? I am getting mixed messages on this topic. I don't believe they are required BUT??????
Did you know you can get your shots through Safeway in the States....$45 to fill out the form on line and no cost for the appt. at the pharmacy, cheaper than the gov. health clinic and shots cost are competitive! I imagine less expensive than going to yur dr's also.

We are flying from Seattle, Washington to London. We stay in London for a few days and then onto Dar Es salaam.
What shots are absolutely necessary...maybe not required but probably wise at our age?

If arriving from US even via Europe, no need for Yellow Fever.
As to what inoculations any traveler any where should consider
-- be current on inocs we haven't had since childhood
-- Tetanus, (DPT) lasts 10/yrs
-- Hep A, easily contracted anywhere even if not leaving home, good for 10/yrs or longer
-- Polio Booster, good for rest of your life
-- Hep B*, only for extended stays as if with Peace Corp, NGOs, etc... otherwise "no unprotected s*x with strangers"
*some docs are giving a combo A/B, so ask, but B isn't necessary for a short visit.
... and don't forget your malaria meds.
Pack tummy meds, repellent and SPF... you're good to go!

I am not sure, but did you prepay your safari costs before you left and lodging?
I am getting very excited because I feel like I am finally closing in on all of the planning!
