Yellow Fever Certificate

This has probably been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find it if it has.

Is the yellow fever "official certificate" required in Rwanda?

We took the injections, but we didnt get any kind of certificate. I can get the DR to write someting on her stationary in Spanish that we took the shots, but not the official certificates.

I keep hearing conflicting statements about whether it's required.

You might ask Eben what will be required, especially since you did the injections yourself. I doubt if the Rwandans will be able to read Spanish.

Rwanda requires the inoc. Sometimes they check that you have the certificate, other times they don't.

But, why weren't you provided the certificate? It's the certificate that is asked for as verification and the only inoculation that specifically provides verification to the jabee (you).

The YF inoc is good for 10/years. You may have other occasions to visit a country requiring YF for entry and will need the certificate.

Did they not have? forgot to provide? I'd contact whomever provided the inoc and ask for the certificate.

The doctor cannot just write something on her letterhead. There is an official certificate and there is an official stamp that goes on it. It is not a stamp that all doctors have, even if your doctor was able to purchase the certificate from the CDC, the doctor would still need the official stamp.

When did you visit?

For Tanzania, the YF requirement, officially went into effect 21st January.

And, though it's required for Rwanda and now Tanzania, it's not unusual for them not to be asked for.

However, the new rules in Tanzania are that you have to present proof of YF, before you can go to the Immigration/Visa counters.
