wondering how it went...

I've become a compulsive reader of these messages! All feeding my anticipation...

What I wonder is how it went for the people who planned their trip on here, and never reported back. Eg Kernel_decker was going to a few places we'll be going to, had a rather unusual itinerary, posted lots in the planning stage. So I was keen to read how it all panned out. But, the last message (unless I missed it somehow) she was counting down the days 8 days pre-departure in June. Then zip.

What do you reckon? Kidnapped by a rogue elephant? Struck dumb by post-trip anti-climax? Caught by employer spending all her time on this forum and barred from the internet forever (eek!)? Post-trip euphoria and hasn't come down to earth yet (I hope so!)?

Hi enthusiast,

My guess would be could not be bothered!

Some reports look to take a huge amount of work - as they seem to be minute by minute accounts, so time consuming to write and to read. But many just do highlights and answer any questions, and that seems to work as well.

Kind regards,

Kaye

Hi! maybe they will read this thread and make a post....who knows.

Agreed with Kaye......no need for lengthy trip reports. Brief synopsis of highlights and pointers is more than enough.....

Well, I know that I already have benefitted so much from reading this board that I'll feel morally obligated to post a trip report after our trip next September! And, I just enjoy reading trip reports so much. But I imagine a lot of people move on to planning their next big trip and become "obsessed" with a new place, and just don't think to come back to this board.

The worst is that I have a morbid imagination and when I don't hear anything again from some posters I...worry about them. Ludicrous, I know. I find myself thinking, I hope so-and-so is all right. I hope nothing bad happened to so-and-so and he/she is simply too busy to post.

Even the ones I don't like!

Thanks, Hari. And getting hope from a boring dinner party: typos can bring a smile, too.

Let's hope Kernel Decker, wsjonj (aka Jack), sonali and others check back in someday...

I disagree. I enjoy a long trip report with personal stories and experiences, not just the "we saw 22 lions, 16 wild dogs and 100 wildebeest crossing the river" Without a lenghty report we'd have never heard about Arielle, Imelda's Burundi excursion, Lynda's stationary obsession or even my Angola story. Keep it long, keep it personal, keep it coming!!

Dennis,

Short paragraph better than no report....that was my point.

Aby, off-topic, but could you translate? Is it "you (are? must?) mother or big/sister a lot"?

Dennis, thanks for easing my worried/addled mind about sonali.

Ok! Ok! I've been back from Kenya & SA just over a month and getting twinges of guilt about not adding a little something re my trip after getting so much help and advice way back in the earlier part of this year when we were in the planning stage. So, I shall post a very short report on our Sep/Oct trip.

On this topic, there was a recent traveller to Kenya who happened to be at Richard's camp during the tragedy with the elephants. Any news from them in the recent weeks? Would like to hear about their accounts of things....

I was wondering about Sonali too. Then there was the woman who was tree by a rhino in Zambia. She was going to tell us about it, but never did.

I like the details also because it is more interesting and I learn more that way. If I don't feel like reading them I can always skim.

Enthusiast, Your anticipation is for what and when? Please list your itinerary or put in a link.

Hi Travelynn

I'll post my itinerary in a separate thread in a couple of days, when I have time.

And I will be reporting back, promise!
