Our best trip ever - in Morocco

I am travelling in Iran in October with my daughter. You will need to cover your hair. In general, the only skin exposed should be face, hands and feet. You can wear long sleeves and long skirts or trousers with loose long shirt or coat over.
I would encourage you to look into the ramifications of travelling with a male companion - it would be an issue for Iranian women, but I don't know whether it would be problem for an American woman.
My friends recently traveled through the Middle East and although they are not married they said they were and wore fake rings to avoid problems. You may want to consider the same. Even then they still endured a lot of harassment so be wary.
