Which tour companies in Egypt are best?
I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with tours from either Scenictours or Insight Tours or possibly anything else. The brochure I have for Insight doesn't have a tour that includes Abu Simbel - I think a must on any trip - which is what is putting me off on their tours. Thanks.

Oh yes Insight does have many tours that include Abu Simble.
Going to Abu Simble is usually and optional side trip from Aswan.
I did a tour with Insight it and was very good....however I came to Cairo a few days earlier and had a private tour guide show me all the place that Insight Tours will not and cannot show you.

MG - I think these days a lot of the group tours are competing by lowering prices - in the reflection of the financial state of the world. We know though that you can't lower prices without giving something up, so they are now giving you flights and hotels, and minimal tours as part of the regular program. There are many more optional tours now that you pay extra for. It sounds like Abu Simbal was always an optional tour with Insight, from what Percy says, but you will find that with many tour group companies now.
HI Percy- you are back. I assume this means you weren't eaten by a lion?

The Abu Simbal is an option with Insight, but at a bigger cost which then means that the cheaper Insight tour, with slightly less fancier hotels than the Scenic Tours (Oberoi hotels) will end up costing the same price but the hotels won't be as nice. Yes I know, I won't be at the hotel all the time, but for the same price, I say go with the nicer hotels. Thanks both for your answers.

I got back from Cairo/Luxor just last month as part of an ancient world ( Italy, Greece, Egypt vacation ). My guide was Ahmed "ahmed4 fathalla" <[email protected]>.
He was excellent. Very knowledgeable and well spoken.
