We stayed at Le Meridien Pyramids last summer. I don't know anything aout the Sofitel, but LMP was very nice. We had a big room (triple), the common areas and pool are lovely, very good breakfast, nice cafe/bakery in the lobby. I would give it 4* by American hotel rating standards, akin to an modern urban Marriott.

Thank you Casual-cairo. The search for thier pyramid view room cmoes with a $130 /night price. Is that too high? Is there anyway to save more?

You could stay at Slimey Saids Pyramid Paradise. There are a few like that around, but they are pretty icky. $130 a night sounds like a bargain if you really get the pyramid view room. Some have balconies. Some just have windows. If that is for a balcony and you want to look at pyramids when you wake up, I guess it's a good deal.
Keep in mind that 80% of the mornings here it is so hazy you can't see the pyramids from very close. Don't just stay one night and hope you'll be luck with a clear morning.
Good luck.
