(Disclaimer: this is my second post in the forums, but I thought I'd start a new thread since my questions now have wandered a little off-topic from my first post)
I was just wondering if it is late enough in the year to predict weather/flooding patterns for an overland trip I'm considering this December. (This trip, or one with a similar itinerary: http://www.gapadventures.com/trips/dunes-deltas-and-falls/DZLD/2011/)
In particular I wanted to know how the following will be impacted (or just how they generally are that time of year - i know it's "green season" in Botswana but still not sure quite what to expect):
vic falls
chobe (game drives possible? any game to see?)
salt pans
okavango delta (will i be able to go on a canoe ride?)
etosha (really want to go on a night game drive)
Also goes to Swakopmund, dunes, canyon, and cape town but I think the seasonal weather won't likely affect those areas much (right?)
This would be my first trip to Africa and I probably will not be able to go back for several years. I like this itinerary because I want to see the widest variety of Africa on a budget. I'm also considering another itinerary from Nairobi to Vic Falls, which might be a better area to visit this time of year, although I find this southwestern itinerary a little more interesting (assuming flooding doesn't spoil it!). Just looking for help in making a decision - thanks!
Weather/rain/water level issues this December in southwest Africa?

I can't comment too much for Botswana, but for Namibia flooding isn't really common in December, the main rains haven't generally started by then and so the water levels are not high enough to cause disruption. Weather of course is notoriously hard to predict, but I would suggest that for Namibia at least you should be fine.
You could get some heavy afternoon showers, but nothing too bad.

No way to absolutely predict
but flooding not usually an issue.
