Weather in S Africa in September
What weather should we plan for in Phinda and Kruger in the last week of September?
How about the preceding week in Namibia=:, Sussevlei, Etosha, Damaraland?
I'm trying to plan what layers of clothing to pack.
Thank you.

i can speak only to Kruger. Layers should include short-sleeved shirts for heat of the day, as well as quilted or padded jacket or fleece/sweater combo for early morning and early evening drives. Most definitely bring a knitted hat for those drives. You might want to bring gloves, too.

We were unlucky to strike rain at Phinda in September 2012. The temperature was quite warm, cooler in the early morning and after sundown. Be sure to take good rain gear - 3 out of our 4 days were wet and there weren't any covered vehicles.
The preceding weeks in Namibia were warm and dry, cooler in the early mornings and of an evening.
Definitely work on layers and a light windproof jacket, especially for the open vehicles at Phinda.
