Volunteering with Cosmic Volunteers

I am a recent college grad and I plan on volunteering in Ghana from October to February and I was wondering if anyone has heard of Cosmic Volunteers? I have a sponsor child in Tamale, Ghana and this organization does volunteering there. If anyone has any info on Cosmic Volunteers or volunteering in Tamale, Ghana that would be great!
Thanks.

Sorry, don't know anything about them. Have you tried asking for a list of former volunteers from your college? Contacting fellow alumni directly will probably give you the best insight.

You may also want to contact the better business bureau in the city where they are headquartered.

I am planning on volunteering with Cosmic Volunteers for three months in Ghana and wanted to see if you had ended up doing it and if you had a good experience?

I would really appreciate any advice/insight you may have.

Thanks so much!

I did go and I would NOT recommend them! I got sick soon after arriving and since there was no group of volunteers there, it was just me and a guide. I could not keep down my malaria pills and had to consider returning home. I spoke over the phone with someone from Cosmic Volunteers who said that if I tried and stayed one more night, they would refund my money. They also said that this was common and sometimes people dont even make it off the plane. ANyway, I stayed that extra night and took a flight home the day after. Cosmic Volunteers then said that they would not return my money. Once I told them that they had promissed this and that other people were in the room and heard them promise this, they said they would return my money. I still heard nothing from them and sent one final message 6 months later requesting my money. They finally sent only half of it back, at which point I decided to give up on the rest.

If I go again, I would do it with a group of others in the same situation and I would not go with Cosmic Volunteers.
