No Visa for Kenya if usa, or uk, but you do need visa for Tanzania, you will also need yellow fever shot and maleria medication before and after trip, also a good idea for polio, tet. typhoid, and hepititis 1.2.3. Have a wonderful trip, I am going to Kenya on March 16th for Safari. Buck

Visas ARE required. This is a brand new requirement which may not have been in place when you entered Kenya. From the U.S. state department February 9, 2001 notice on Kenya: <BR> <BR>"ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A passport and visa are required. Visas should be obtained in advance, although airport visas are available. Travelers who opt to obtain an airport visa should expect delays upon arrival. There is a fee for the visa, whether obtained in advance or at the airport. Evidence of yellow fever immunization may be requested. <BR> <BR>Travelers may obtain the latest information on visas as well as any additional details regarding entry requirements from the Embassy of Kenya, 2249 R street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008, telephone (202) 387-6101, or the Kenyan Consulates General in Los Angeles and New York City. Persons outside the United States should contact the nearest Kenyan embassy or consulate." <BR>

I'm so confused! I looked on the "official" Kenyan Embassy website and it says no visas are required for US citizens. <BR> <BR>How do we find out the "real" scoop? I'm going in May and would like to get the visa ahead of time if it really is required. I hate to spend an extra $100 ($50 ea for hubby/I) if it's not. <BR> <BR>Sandy

I have been checking all information sites since this visa question came up and what I find is NO VISA required for stays less than 30 days. This is on the US state dept. web site and also the Kenya tourist board, so until something changes its no visa for stays less than (30 DAYS). I think the confusion must be the 30 day requirement. Hope this settles it for all of us. Buck

Please check the consular information sheet dated February 9, 2001 on the U.S. state department web site--it clearly states that visas ARE required. This has been confirmed to us by the Kenya embassy in Washington D.C., our travel agent in Nairobi (Let's Go Travel), the Kenya embassy in Germany and several visa service agencies. Unfortunately, not all web sites are sufficiently updated.

We were finally successful in submitting our visa applications in D.C. today. Warning: you need an 8 1/2X 11 computer printed itineary from your travel agent or airline showing your flights to and from Kenya and $50 in a cashier's check. They will not accept credit cards or personal checks.

A visa is once again required for Kenya. The Kenyan government do not seem to be able to make up their minds and seem to change the rules every year! You will also need a visa if you wish to enter Tanzania. A Yellow fever certificate is also required for Tanzania.

we are going this august to kenya, tanzania and zimbabwe. we just got the notice from travcoa that as of march 1 a visa will be required for kenya. so this is the story for now. i would think the airport lines for the visas will be quite an ordeal for the next few weeks.

Just got back from Kenya. Obtained the visa at the airport. Was no problem at all. If you have the application already made out you can just go get in the line as most will have to fill it out. Don't bother with the pictures as they just give them back to you. We forgot to sign ours and they just stamped it right throught. You can download the application on the Kenyan Embassay website. They just want the 50 dollars as they are in desperate need of foreign exchange. The country is very poor but the people are warm and friendly. Nairobi is the exception. You have to be very careful there but after that all the lodges have security people all around, we had an escort every night to our room and had no problem at all. Guards are around 24 hrs. every where you look. The wages are so low that they can afford to hire all these people to do the work. Have a wonderful trip, Buck
